Leading a consortium of experienced builders and working seamlessly with global project manager Bechtel, the Hamad International Airport was Gamuda’s first project in the Gulf States.

We were awarded the design and construction of the airport’s airfield facilities, access tunnels and detention ponds. The airfield facilities were designed to cater to the latest large-body aircrafts with two parallel runways (asphalt), three parallel taxiways (asphalt), twelve aircraft parking aprons (concrete), remote parking bays, drainage works, Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) facilities complete with four sub-stations, two tunnels, three detention ponds, 75 linear kilometre of Glass Fibre Reinforced Pipe (GFRP) network of drainage pipes and other related facilities.

The runways were constructed under world-class engineering standards and required meticulous planning and precision programming.

The airport was named the best airport in the world in the 2024 Skytrax Awards.
