Negeri Sembilan to get 158ha data centre campus
Petaling Jaya: Work on a new data centre campus in Negri Sembilan takes a concrete step forward with the groundbreaking ceremony at Port Dickson’s Data Centre Infrastructure Hub.
The event was officiated by Negri Sembilan Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, following the announcement by Gamuda Bhd’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Gamuda DC Infrastructure Sdn Bhd, regarding its sale and purchase agreement with West Synergy Sdn Bhd on Dec 30, 2024.
Under the agreement, Gamuda DC Infrastructure will acquire 157.71 ha (389 acres) of freehold agriculture land for RM424.4mil.
The land will be developed into cloud and related data centre infrastructure as part of the Malaysian Vision Valley 2.0 development corridor.
West Synergy is a 60%-owned indirect subsidiary of MUI Properties Bhd.
During the same ceremony, Gamuda and Menteri Besar Negeri Sembilan Inc (MBINS) also signed a memorandum of understanding to build a water treatment plant (WTP) with a capacity of 65 million litres per day.
Representing Gamuda at the signing was its executive director Datuk Azmi Mat Nor, while the state was represented by Datuk Mohd Khidir Majid, Negri Sembilan state financial officer who also serves as MBINS managing director.
Beyond serving the data centre campus, the WTP allocates 25% of its capacity for Negri Sembilan’s domestic water users, boosting the reliability of treated water supply in the state, with the asset and land remaining under MBINS.
In a statement yesterday, Gamuda said the construction of the WTP is a strategic move that complements the data centre project to ensure that the facilities operate optimally.
“More importantly, this is a proactive step to ensure water security for the state, by providing reliable clean water supply in Port Dickson and the surrounding areas to reduce the rate of water supply disruptions.
“This is a win-win partnership between Negri Sembilan and Gamuda,” it added, highlighting how private investments can align with public interests to bring long-term benefits to the people.
