Sungai Rasau Water Supply Scheme (Stage 1)

Sungai Rasau Water Supply
Scheme (Stage 1)

Prai Power Station

Working with the National Electricity Board of Malaysia, we worked on the administration building, turbine blocks, power house and boiler plinths of this single-shaft power plant – making the Prai Power Plant the first of its kind in Southeast Asia at the time.

Location

Selangor, Malaysia

Project Awarded

July 2022

Our proven track record in designing and constructing dam and water treatment plants locally was instrumental to our appointment as the Main Contractor for the proposed development of Sungai Rasau Water Supply Scheme (Stage 1) by Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn. Bhd. The RM1,968 million contract is for Package 1: Design and Build of proposed Rasau Intake, Raw Water Pumping Mains, Water Treatment Plant and Associated Works.

The scope of work includes:

  • An intake structure of a 1400 million-litre-a-day (Mld) capacity to draw augmented raw water from the ex-mining ponds at Taman Putra Permai, Puchong
  • A 700 Mld of water treatment plant near Tanjung Dua Belas including civil, structural and building, process plant mechanical works, electrical, instrumentation, SCADA, building services and associated external works
  • 2.4m diameter twin-pipe connecting the Intake structure and the water treatment plant
  • Two overhead bridges crossing Elite Highway and SKVE Highway

The development of this water supply scheme is crucial as Sungai Selangor Scheme is currently the only source of raw water supply to the Klang region.

With the implementation of the Rasau Scheme, the water reserve margin is expected to increase to 20.9% and produce a clean water supply of up to 700 million litres daily to the Klang region. This 35.5-month project is aimed to be completed by December 2025.
