The Australian Government is investing AUD100 billion over 10 years in transport infrastructure across Australia through the Infrastructure Investment Programme. This investment is vital to reduce congestion, improve connectivity between regions and meet the national freight challenge. Infrastructure spending to enhance the urban transport network there will be a catalyst for job creation, providing immense opportunities, as well as improving liveability and sustainability of the local communities.
Gamuda can contribute significantly to meeting the infrastructure delivery challenges with its track record in constructing highways, tunnels, rail networks; capability and capacity to innovate and deliver high quality solutions; and pool of experienced, qualified technical staff.
In October 2019, Gamuda invested a 50% equity stake in Australian based, private specialist rail constructor Martinus Rail Pty Ltd on the back of leveraging on the pipeline of construction projects in Australia. This investment provides a springboard to contribute towards infrastructure development, especially in the railway industry, in addition to the upcoming metro tunnels and tolled road projects. Gamuda expects to be tendering more than AUD20 billion of works.
